Resiliency Amidst the Storm

Change management has become essential for organizations to thrive. Recently, I conducted a workshop for the leaders of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Focused on empowering leaders to embrace and lead change, the event featured a series of engaging exercises, including change canvass, forcefield analysis, world cafe, stakeholder mapping, systems thinking, and the marshmallow tower challenge.

During the workshop, DSWD leaders immersed themselves in a variety of exercises designed to hone their change management skills. The change canvass activity allowed them to visualize and understand the changes they are planning to implement in their areas, fostering clarity and direction. Through forcefield analysis, participants identified driving and restraining forces impacting change initiatives, enabling them to strategize effectively.

The world cafe sessions facilitated open conversations and knowledge-sharing among the leaders, providing valuable insights into managing change across diverse areas. The stakeholder mapping exercise helped them identify key stakeholders and devise tailored approaches to gain support for their change endeavors.

The workshop also introduced the concept of systems thinking, encouraging leaders to view the impact of change as interconnected components. This holistic approach allowed them to identify ripple effects and consider the broader impact of their change efforts, resulting in more comprehensive and sustainable strategies.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the marshmallow tower challenge. Participants were tasked with building a stable tower using limited resources, promoting teamwork, creativity, and adaptability. The leaders demonstrated resilience and determination as they pushed through with the exercise.

Even as nature presented a challenge in the form of a storm, participants exemplified remarkable resilience. Their unwavering focus and dedication to the workshop's objectives showcased their commitment to driving positive change within their organization.

The workshop for DSWD leaders was an enriching experience, marked by a range of engaging exercises and the resilience of its participants. As they return to their roles equipped with valuable change management insights, we celebrate their determination to embrace change and drive transformation within their organization.
